As former Managing Director of high-growth, 2-time Inc 5000 ecommerce firm eHouse Studio, Yates scaled ecommerce revenues to over $400 million annually for brands like Kay Jewelers, Dr. Axe, and Spanx. Prior to that, he co-owned and successfully exited ScoutAdvisor, a “Moneyball” sabermetric and predictive technology company that earned business with 19 MLB teams. He partnered with Warner Bros. to have his work featured in Clint Eastwood’s movie “Trouble With The Curve,” showcasing the impact of data analytics in baseball.
Currently leading his boutique consultancy 2 Visions, Yates brings deep expertise in strategy, marketing, research, and in-house ecommerce capability development. Managing an average of $500 million annually within a multi-billion-dollar portfolio, he delivers strong results in areas such as advertising, forecasting, team dynamics, conversion rate optimization (CRO), SEO, and personalization.
As a certified leadership and executive coach, Yates partners with C- and S/VP-level ecommerce leaders, meeting roughly weekly. He often serves as a fractional executive, guiding C-suite teams through organizational changes and growth initiatives. His collaborative, data-driven approach has doubled or even tenfold increased client revenues across industries.
Earlier in his career, Yates held leadership roles consulting with notable organizations including Qorvis—the largest privately-owned PR, advertising, and marketing firm—E Solutions (now WOW!), a fast-growing networking and technology startup, and Blackbaud, the world’s leading cloud software company powering social good.
Active in his professional community, Yates is a member of the Strategic Management Society, the American Marketing Association, and the Insights Association. He has served on advisory boards for organizations like YoungLife and Rampart Communications, providing strategic guidance to senior executives.
He holds an MS from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University and a BA from Wake Forest University. A thought leader in his field, Yates contributes to publications like Forbes on ecommerce strategies and marketing leadership.
